Taking care of Students

Pastoral Care Team

Every pastoral staff member contributes to delivering a unique experience.

Supporting Every Student, Every Step
Pastoral Care lies at the heart of our community — ensuring every boy feels known, supported, and upheld.

Our Pastoral Care Team is a dedicated network of professionals committed to the wellbeing, growth, and dignity of every student. From College Counsellors to Year Pastoral Leaders and the Director of Pastoral Care, this team works collaboratively to guide, mentor and respond to the emotional, social and spiritual needs of boys. Together, they strive to build a safe, inclusive environment where challenges are met, resilience is cultivated, and young men are encouraged to flourish.

Team Structure
and Roles

Director of Pastoral Care
Leads the pastoral direction, ensures alignment with the College’s values, supports staff and provides oversight of wellbeing initiatives.

College Counsellors
Located within the Wellbeing Centre, our counsellors offer confidential support. Students may self-refer, or be referred by pastoral leaders or parents. Their approach respects confidentiality and is grounded in trust and care.

Year Pastoral Leaders
Assigned to each year level (Years 7–12), these leaders serve as the first point of pastoral contact. They monitor student wellbeing, coordinate support, liaise with students, staff, and families, and help manage challenges.

How Students
Access Support

Appointments can be made via the Pastoral Care office, through a Pastoral Leader, or by direct email.

Counselling sessions are private and responsive, whether short-term or ongoing, guided by professional standards and the College’s commitment to safety.

In crisis or urgent situations after hours, local mental health services and emergency contacts are promoted, ensuring students always have access to help.

Our Approach
and Commitments

Holistic Care
We recognise that academic growth flows from emotional, social, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.

Proactive Support
Rather than waiting, we build regular check-ins, responsive programs, and early intervention strategies.

Values-Driven
Our care framework is rooted in our Edmund Rice tradition—respect, community, compassion, and justice guide every interaction.
